¡Más cupcakes! - More cupcakes!

Todas estas 'cupcakes' las hice la semana pasada para que Alex las llevara a la oficina por su cumpleaños. Son de tres sabores distintos: limón con nata montada de limón; chocolate con nata montada y virutas de chocolate; y café y nueces con 'butter cream' de café.

Por lo visto, fueron todo un éxito. Debajo adjunto un par de e-mails de los muchos que le llegaron a Alex...

I made all of these cupcakes last week for Alex to take to the office for his birthday. They are three different flavors: lemon with lemon whipped cream; chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate shaves; and coffee and walnut with coffee butter cream.

Apparently, they were a big hit. Below, I'm attaching a couple of the e-mails that Alex received...

"Hi Alex. Happy birthday have a fab evening. Please tell your wife she makes amazing cakes - the chocolate one was yummy!! Does she take orders - I know a lot of people that would order for parties etc (myself included) J"

Tarta de cumpleaños de golf - Golf birthday cake

Esta es la tarta que le hice este fin de semana a Alex por su cumpleaños...Creo que me quedo muy graciosa y además estaba muy buena. El bizcocho era de chocolate y en el centro llevaba nata montada con Baileys. Encima llevaba 'buttercream' (mantequilla con zaúcar) de color verde. La bolsa con los palos y las bolas las compré ya hechas, y son sólo de adorno. ¡A todo el mundo le gustó mucho!

This is the cake that I made this weekend for Alex's birthday...I think it turned out very nice and it was very tasty too. It had chocolate sponge with Baileys whipped cream in the middle. On top it had green butter cream.

I bought the bag with the clubs and the golf balls ready made, and they are just for decoration.

Everyone liked it very much!

'Brownies' de chocolate - Chocolate brownies

Los hice el otro día por el cumpleaños de Alex...Es la primera vez que hacía 'brownies' y no será la última, porque estaban buenísimos (mejor ni decir los que me he comido ya...).

La mejor forma de comerlos: calientes y con helado de vainilla.

I made them the other day for Alex's birthday...It was the first time I was making brownies and it won't be the last, because they were delicious (better not to say how many I have had so far...).

The best way to have them: warm and with some vanilla ice cream.

San Valentín 2012 - Valentine's Day 2012

Son de mantequilla y azúcar moreno, y están buenísimas con el café (sobre todo el día de San Valentín...). Las galletas se las di por la mañana para que se las llevara a la oficina y la tarjeta por la noche, con su regalo.

They are made with butter and brown sugar, and they are delicious with a cup of coffee (especially on Valentine's Day...). I gave him the biscuits in the morning so he could take them to the office, and the card I gave it to him in the evening, with his present.

Tarta de zanahoria - Carrot cake

Al principio, cuando llegué a Inglaterra, no podía creer que aquí pusieran verduras en las tartas...¡me pareció una idea muy extraña!. Ahora sin embargo, la tarta de zanahoria me encanta (sobre todo en invierno, cuando hace frío). En realidad lleva casi más plátano que zanahoria...y el dulce de encima está hecho con queso crema, mantequilla y azúcar (¡no recomendada para los que estén a dieta...!).

At first, when I arrived in England, I couldn't believe that over here they would use vegetables in cakes...I thought it was a very strange idea!. Now however, I love carrot cake (especially in the winter, when it is cold). Actually, it contains nearly more banana than carrot...and the icing on top is made with soft cheese, butter and sugar (not recommended for those on a diet...!)

Bolsa para la ropa de la huerta - Allotment clothes bag

Primero ví los motivos de punto de cruz en una revista; luego encontré los adornos de madera en el trabajo; y de ahí se me ocurrió la idea de hacer una bolsa para guardar la ropa de la huerta (que como se ensucia mucho, no la guardamos en el armario con el resto de la ropa...).

First I saw the cross-stitch motives in a magazine; then I found the wooden charms at work; and from there I got the idea of making a bag to keep the allotment clothes (as they get very dirty, we don't keep them in the wardrobe with the rest of the clothes...).

Para llevar... To take away...

Esta bolsita la conseguí gratis con una revista de punto de cruz hace ya varios años. Es para cuando una se quiere llevar la labor de viaje o fuera de casa...Siempre me ha gustado mucho, pero me resultaba muy poco práctica con sólo un bolsillo donde poner todo...¡así que he decidido personalizarla un poco!

Ahora cada cosa tiene su sitio y es fácil de encontrar. Los únicos materiales que he necesitado para adaptar la bolsa han sido unos retales de fieltro azul clarito y panamá blanco, lazo azul y un automático de plástico blanco (todo cosas que tenía por casa...).

I got this little bag free with a cross-stitch magazine a few years ago now. It is for when one wants to take one's needlework on a trip or away from home...I have always liked it a lot, but I didn't find it very practical with just one pocket to put everything...so I have decided to personalize it a bit!

Now there is a place for everything and it is easy to find. The only materials I have needed to adapt the bag have been: some scrap light blue felt and white Aida fabric, a piece of blue ribbon and a white plastic snap fastener (I had all of these things at home...).

Año nuevo...¡calendario nuevo! - New year...new calendar!

A pesar de no poder estar un día sin mi Iphone...en casa, junto a mi escritorio y mi ordenador, sigo teniendo un calendario de papel... Este año no he encontrado ninguno que me gustara para comprar, así que me he hecho yo uno. Con cartulina blanca, papeles de flores que tenía por casa y el ordenador, ¡lo hice en una tarde!

Despite not being able to be without my Iphone for a day...at home, next to my desk and my computer, I still have a paper calendar...This year I haven't found one that I would like to buy, so I have made one myself. With some white card, flowery papers that I had at home and the computer...I made it in one afternoon!

¡La pañalera de Joseph! - Joseph's nappy stacker!

Esta pañalera tan graciosa se la hice la semana pasada a Joseph, el niño de nuestros amigos Martin y Catherine, que nació el jueves pasado. Compré esta tela porque además de tener unos dibujos muy simpáticos, sé que a ellos les gustan más los colores alegres que el azul clarito de bebé. Con lo que me sobró de tela, también les hice una bolsita para guardar lo que ellos prefieran...Ambas cosas van forradas por dentro con tela de algodón verde.

I made this cute nappy stacker last week for Joseph, the son of our friends Martin and Catherine, who was born last Thursday. I bought this fabric because not only it has a very nice pattern, but also because I know they like bright colours rather than baby blue colour. With the spare fabric, I also made them a little bag to keep whatever they prefer... I lined both items with cotton green fabric.

Estas tarjetas, además de ser monísimas, me están resultando super útiles, ya que con tantos amigos teniendo niños ultimamente...¡siempre hay alguien a quien dar la enhorabuena!.

These cards, they are not only very cute, but also super useful, as with so many friends having children lately...there is always someone to congratulate!
