Iniciales - Initials

Siguiendo una pequeña tradición familiar, cuando nos mudamos a este piso, hice estos cuadros a punto de cruz con nuestras iniciales.
Al igual que en casa de mis padres, abuelos y tíos, los tenemos colgados en nuestro dormitorio, encima de la mesilla.
Following a little family tradition, when we moved to this flat, I made these cross-stitched pictures with our initials.
As in my parents, grandparents and aunt and uncle's house, they hang in our bedroom, above our bedside tables.

Otro par de búhos de fieltro que he hecho para el trabajo...Estos también son parte de uno de nuestros kits navideños.
Another pair of owls that I have made for work...These ones are also part of one of our Christmas kits.

Galletas vienesas - Viennese fingers

Con sólo cuatro ingredientes, estas galletas son muy fáciles y rápidas de hacer...¡y están buenísimas!. Sobre todo con chocolate...
With only four ingredientes, these biscuits are very easy and quick to make...and they are delicious! Especially with chocolate...

Alrededor del mundo - Around the world

Esta es una buena forma de recordar los distintos lugares del mundo que hemos visitado...Se me ocurrió cuando ví este mapa del mundo en una librería (en realidad, es un papel de regalo). El mapa no está actualizado, pero me gustaron los colores y la textura del papel. Va pegado a un trozo de cartón pluma, para así poder pinchar los alfileres de cristal de colores con facilidad. El marco lo compré en por £4 en unas rebajas y el paspartú me lo hicieron a medida en la tienda de marcos de aquí al lado. 
This is a good way to remember the different places in the world that we have visited...I came up with the idea when I saw this map in a book shop (actually, it is a piece of wrapping paper). The map isn't a current one, but I liked the colours and the texture of the paper. It has been glued to a piece of foam board so it is easy to place the glass head pins. I bought the frame for £4 on a sale and I had the mount made to measure in the local framing shop.

Delantal - Apron

Este delantal tan mono lo hice la semana pasada para el trabajo. Fue un proyecto muy rápido porque ya venía listo para cortar y con las instrucciones para coserlo...

I made this cute apron last week for work...It was a very quick project as it came ready to cut and with sewing instructions...

Por mi cumple... - On my birthday...

Otra tanda de mis 'cupcakes' de chocolate y nata montada...Estas las llevé al trabajo el otro día por mi cumpleaños.
Another batch of my chocolate and whipped cream cupcakes...I took these ones to work on my birthday.

Esta tarjeta se la hice el otro día a nuestro amigo Martin por su cumpleaños...

I made this card the other day for our friend Martin on his birthday...

Juego de baño - Bath set

Este juego de baño también se lo he hecho a Unai por su nacimiento. La toalla con capucha la puede usar ya, y el albornoz es para cuando sea un poquito más grande. Su baño está decorado con ranitas, así que yo también le he borado unas pocas a punto de cruz.
This bath set is also for Unai. He can use the hooded towel now, and the bath robe when he is a bit bigger.
His bathroom is decorated with frogs, so I have cross-stitched him a few more too.

Pañalera personalizada - Personalised nappy stacker

Esta pañalera me la había encargado Susana, la mujer de mi primo David, para su niño. Me la había pedido en verde pistacho, a juego con la habitación, pero yo también le he añadido el nombre, para personalizarla un poco más.
Las letras son de pintura adhesiva para tela.
This nappy stacker was an order from Susana, my cousin David's wife, for their boy. She wanted it in pistachio green to match the nursery, but I have also added the name, to personalise it a bit more. The letters are made with adhesive white fabric paint.

Snoopy...

¡Snoopy a punto de cruz!. Es un cuadrito que le he hecho a Unai, el hijo de mi primo David y su mujer Susana, por su nacimiento.

Se lo he hecho en blanco y verde pistacho, ya que esos son los colores de su habitación... Como no encontré Aida color pistacho, utilicé Aida soluble sobre un trozo de tela normal, y luego lo metí en agua caliente.

Cross-stitched Snoopy! I have made this picture as birth sampler for Unai, my cousin David and his wife Susana's son.

I have made it in white and pistachio green, as those are the colours of his nursery...I couldn't find pistachio green Aida, so I used soluble Aida over a regular piece of fabric, and then I put it in hot water.

Tarta de manzana - Apple tart

¡Buenísima!. Sólo nos duró cuatro días...El puré de manzana que me sobró, lo he congelado para hacer otro postre en otra ocasión...
Yummy! It only lasted us four days... I have frozen the apple puree that I had left over, to make another dessert another time...

¡Tarta de pañales! - Nappy cake!

Esta tarta de pañales, se la hice por encargo a mi amiga Patricia, que la necesitaba para una 'baby shower' que estaba organizando para una compañera de trabajo...

Ella me compró todo el material, y yo se la decoré. Quedó muy mona y, por lo que me cuenta... ¡a la futura mamá le encanto!.

I made this nappy cake to order for my friend Patricia, who needed it for a baby shower she was organizing for a colleague...

She bought all the materials and I decorated it. It turned out very cute and, as she tells me... the mum to be loved it!

Colcha nueva...cojines nuevos - New bed cover...new cushions

Estos son los nuevos cojines que he hecho, a juego con mi nueva colcha. Simplemente fui a John Lewis, compré 30 cm de varias telas que me gustaron, algunos adornos...y me puse a coser. ¡El resultado es fántastico!. Para no tener que coser cremalleras, todos los cojines son de solapa...

These are the new cushions I have made to match my new bed cover.

I simply went to John Lewis, bought 30cm of a few fabrics that I liked and some  trimmings...and I started sewing. The result is fantastic!. To avoid having to  sew zips, I made envelope cushions.

Nueva colcha - New bed cover

Esta es mi nueva colcha...¡y me encanta!.
Después de meses mirando colchas, y de no encontrar lo que buscaba...decidí hacer una yo misma.
Mi suegra Kathy me llevó a una mercería cerca de su casa, y allí es donde encontré esta tela tan original. Además me salió muy bien de precio, ya que sólo les quedaban dos retales, ¡y uno de ellos me lo dieron gratis!.
This is my new bed cover...and I love it! 
After months looking at bed covers and not finding what I was looking for...I decided to make one myself. 
My mother in law Kathy took me to a haberdashery shop near her house, and there is where I found such an original fabric. The price was very good too, as they only had two pieces left, and they gave me one of them for free!

Corona otoñal - Autumn wreath

Esta es la corona otoñal que he hecho este año para la puerta de casa. Todo el material lo tenia ya de años pasados, y lo único que he añadido esta vez, han sido las flores de tela y los banderines (que originalmente eran unos pantalones mios...). Por cierto, esta vez tuve ayuda: ¡Alex hizo algunas de las flores más pequeñas!

This is the autumn wreath that I have made this year for my front door. I already had all the materials from previous years, so the only things I have added this time, are the fabric flowers and the bunting (which originally were a pair of trousers of mine...). By the way, this time I had some help: Alex made some of the smaller flowers!

Pañalera de cuadritos - Checked nappy stacker

Esta pañalera se la he hecho a Tomás, el niño de mi amiga Caty que está a punto de nacer. También le hecho una bolsita para la cuna a juego. 

Ésta última está guateada, y al igual que la pañalera, va forrada por dentro de tela de algodón blanca. Le di las dos cosas el otro día, en su 'baby shower', y le gustaron mucho.

I have made this nappy stacker for Tomás, my friend Caty's baby, who is going to be born very soon. I have also made him a matching cot pocket.

I quilted it and, as the nappy stacker, it has been lined inside with white cotton fabric. I gave her both things the other day, at her baby shower, and she liked them very much.

'Baby shower' nº2 - Baby shower no.2

Estas son algunas de las cosas que preparé para la 'baby shower' que le hicimos a mi amiga Caty la otra semana...

Las 'cupcakes' son de chocolate con nata montada y purpurina por encima. La tarta -de pañales- no nos la comimos, claro, pero gustó mucho. Ni que decir que...¡es niño!

These are some of the things I prepared for the baby shower that we threw for my friend Caty the other week...

The cupcakes are chocolate flavour with whipped cream and glitter icing. We didn't eat the nappy cake, of course, but it was a hit. No need to say...it's a boy!

Toallas bordadas - Embroidered towels

Estas toallas se las hice a mi hermana Irene y a su novio Vasislis en mayo, cuando se mudaron a su nuevo piso en Sevilla.
Están bordadas a punto de cruz con sus iniciales, y cada uno tiene su juego. Se las hice en blanco y gris porque esos son los colores de su baño.
I made these towels for my sister Irene and her boyfriend Vasilis in May, when they moved to their new flat in Seville.
They have been cross-stitched with their initials and both of them have their own sets. I used white and grey because those are the colours of their bathroom. 

Búhos navideños - Christmas owls

Estos búhos de fieltro tan graciosos, los hice la semana pasada para el trabajo...
Es un kit que vendemos este año dentro de nuestra sección de navidad, para hacer tus propios adornos para el árbol. Pensé que estaría bien que la gente viera el resultado final... Todo el material está incluido en la caja, así que lo único que me hizo falta fue una aguja de coser y pegamento. No sé si es porque están muy bien de precio o qué...pero desde que los colgué el otro día, ¡se venden como churros!.
I made these cute felt owls last week for work...They are a kit that we sell this year as part of our Christmas range, to make your own Christmas tree decorations. I thought it would be nice if people could see the finish project...
All materials are included in the box, so I only needed a sewing needle and some glue. I don't know if it is because of the price, but since I displayed them the other day...they are selling like hot cakes!

Bolsita de lino - Linen bag

El otro día estaba ordenando mis telas, cuando encontré un retal de lino blanco que había comprado hacía tiempo...
¡En un momento y con ayuda de mi máquina de coser, el retal se convirtiío en esta bolsita de lino!. Muy sencilla e ideal para guardar prendas delicadas.
I was tiding my fabrics the other day, when I found a piece of white linen that I had bought a while ago...
In no time and with help from my sewing machine, the piece of scrap fabric became this linen bag! Very simple and ideal for delicate garments.

Bizcocho de almendras - Almond cake

Lo hice el otro día , ¡y me quedó buenísimo!. Es una receta nueva que no había probado antes. Entrte otros ingredientes, lleva plátano, miel y almendras...
I made it the other day, and it was delicious!. It is a new recipe that I hadn't tried before. Amongst other ingredients, it contains banana, honey and almonds...

Para viajar - To travel

 Esta bolsita la hice hace unos meses para nuestras vacaciones. Está guateada y forrada por dentro con tela de algodón blanca. La cinta de Aida está bordada a punto de cruz y el adorno de la cremallera lo tenía por casa...¡es perfecto para este proyecto!.
I made this bag a few months ago for our holidays. Inside, it has been lined with wadding and white cotton fabric. The Aida band has been cross-stitched and  I had the charm for the zip at home...It's just perfect for this project!
